Science originally was wider than it is now. Modern Science rejects all final causes and is naturalistic and deterministic and reductionist. Learning and investigation are essential to human progress as we have old and new problems to solve. But the complicity of science in Nazi Germany, Stalinsti Russia and Mao's China is a disgrace. There are good scientists and bad just as in any field.
