A Web music store offers two versions of a popular song. The size of the standard version is 2.1 megabytes (MB). The size of the high-quality version is 4.6 MB. Yesterday, the high-quality version was downloaded three times as often as the standard version. The total size downloaded for the two versions was 3975 MB. How many downloads of the standard version were there?

Let's start with what the problem tells us...

 

Standard version = 2.1MB

High quality = 4.2MB

Total MB down loaded = 3975MB

The number of High quality was 3 times that of the Standard

 

Now for what we don't know.

How many standard versions... we will call this (S)

How many high quality versions... we will call this (H)

 

H=3(S)

S(2.1)+H(4.2)=3975
