Factoring: 16a^4-1
Let's analyze this a bit:
16 is the square of 4
1 is the square of 1
a4 is the square of a2
1 is the square of 1
a4 is the square of a2
Thus
(4a2 + 1) • (4a2 - 1)
(4a2 + 1) • (4a2 - 1)
If you Factor 4a2 - 1 you will know that...
4 is the square of 2
4 is the square of 2
1 is the square of 1
a2 is the square of a1
Further factorization get you to: (2a + 1) • (2a - 1)
(4a2 + 1) • (2a + 1) • (2a - 1) is your final result.... you can't simplify further than that.
a2 is the square of a1
Further factorization get you to: (2a + 1) • (2a - 1)
(4a2 + 1) • (2a + 1) • (2a - 1) is your final result.... you can't simplify further than that.
Hope this helps!
