Use the quotient property of exponents to simplify this expression, write the answer with positive exponents only.

(3y)^17/(3y)^9

= (3y)^8 = (3^8)(y^8) = 6561y^8

17-9 = 8 = the exponent for y

3^8 = 9^4 = 81^2 = 6561
