T = # pounds of turkey

R = # pound of roast beef

 

6.99H + 3.95T + 4.85R = 55.27

 

From the 3rd sentence we know

H = T = R

 

So we can substitute H for T and R in the first equation.

6.99H + 3.95H + 4.85H = 55.27

15.79H = 55.27

 

H = 3.5 pounds

and

T = 3.5 pounds

R = 3.5 pounds
