I assume this problem should read like this:
A mixture of 100 pounds of coffee costs $13.50 per pound. How many pounds of A at $9 per pound and B at $15 per pound are in the mix?
Let A stand for pounds of coffee A.
100 - A is the number of pounds of coffee B.
9A + 15(100 - A) = (13.50)100
Simplify.
9A + 15(100 - A) = 1350
9A + 1500 - 15A = 1350
- 6A + 1500 = 1350
- 6A = - 150
A = 25
B = 100 - 25 = 75
There are 25 pounds of A and 75 pounds of B in the mixture.
