The first thing you need to do is distribute the number in front of the parentheses over the stuff inside the parentheses:

 

2x - 12x -15 = -7x + 6x + 8

 

Now combine like terms:

 

-10x - 15 = -x + 8

 

Now add 10x to each side

 

-15 = 9x + 8

 

Now subtract 8 from each side

 

-23 = 9x

 

Now divide both sides by 9:

 

-23/9 = x
