Some number is equal to 1/5 of the sum of 80.8, −34.8, and 62. What is the number?

Sum of 80.8, −34.8, and 62 must be = [80.8+(-34.8)+62]=[80.8-34.8+62]=[122.8-34.8]=88

1/5 of the sum of 80.8, −34.8, and 62 must be = 88/5

According to given condition,

x=88/5 ... ... the equation which can also be written as, x=[80.8+(-34.8)+62]/5 or also be written as, 5x=[80.8+(-34.8)+62]

 

Thus, from x=108/5

we have, =>x=21.6

 

Therefore the number is 21.6.
