I'm assuming that the questioner wants to know how much 4 pennies weigh because if the question is really how much 4 pennies are worth (as it states in the problem) then the answer is 4 cents, which is too easy.

 

So, if 4 pounds of quarters are worth $100 and there are 400 quarters in $100 (4 quarters per dollar times 100 dollars), then each quarter weighs 1/100 of a pound (4 pounds/400 quarters equals 1/100 pound per quarter).

 

Two pennies weigh the same as 1 quarter, so 2 pennies weigh 1/100 pound.

 

Then four pennies weigh twice as much, or 2/100 pound which is the same as 1/50 pound.
