There is a raffle that involves 18 tickets. The tickets are numbered and you can select any numbered ticket you please. You decide to buy 8 tickets. Now what is the best way to decide which numbers I should select in order to have the highest probability to win. For example: Select only odd numbered tickets, Select only single digit numbered tickets, or select equal amounts of both?

If the drawing is truly done at random, then your best bet is to randomly choose each successive member of your set of 8.
