Candy A is worth $1.50 per pound, and candy B is worth $2.00 per pound. If we want to mix them to produce 30 pounds of candy worth $1.60 per pound, how many pounds of Candy A will we need to use?

Let A and B be the weights of the the two types of candies in the mixture.

Then

A + B = 30 

1.5A + 2B = 16.*30 = 48

Sub.  B = 30 -A to the second equation, we have

1.5A + 2(30 - A) = 48

A = 24 and B = 6
