Let x = woman's speed (in km/min)
Then, 2x = man's speed (in km/min)
Distance = (rate)(time)
When they meet, distance of the man + distance of the woman = 1 km
So, (2x)(10) + (x)(10) = 1
30x = 1
x = 1/30 km/min = 2 km/hr

You can measure the speed in km/min or km/hr. I chose to use km/min because the distance was given in terms of km and the time was given in minutes. An alternative would be to convert minutes to hours first by dividing 10 by 60.

Can you show me that too?

10 min = 10/60 hr = 1/6 hr
So, (2x)(1/6) + (x)(1/6) = 1
(1/2)x = 1
x = 2 km/hr
