Need help on "box part" of the box method for quadratic functions

I can easily factor with the x method and when all positive and a does not equal 0 I can do it perfectly fine. My problem occurs when it is a negative in the quadratic function. I just don't know what to all I have done is try to figure out patterns by factoring and changing the negative's position in the factored result after the box. All in all I just need help with what to do with the negatives during the box part of the x-box method for solving quadractic functions
