The cooking club made some pies to sell at a basketball game to raise money for the new math books. The cafeteria contributed four pies to the sale. Each  was then cut into five pieces and sold. There were a total of 60 pieces to sell. How many lies did the club make?

The four pies cut into 5 pieces is 20 pieces.  Total pieces sold is 60.  60-20=40.  40 pieces / 5 pieces in each pie = 8 pies.
