We can use either substitution or elimination to solve this system of equations I'm going to use substitution

 

from eq 2 we can see that

 

z= x + 2

 

plug that value for z in eq 3

 

y + 3(x+2) = 11

 

y = 5 - 3x

 

now as you can see y and a are both in terms of x substitute my and z in eq 1 to find x

 

x + 5 - 3x + x+ 2 = 6

 

-x = -1

 

x = 1

 

y = 5 - 3 = 2

 

z = 1 + 2 = 3

 

x = 1 , y = 2 and z = 3

Many different processes exist. Here is one:

 

x - z = -2

x = z - 2                substitute into equation one

 

(z - 2) + y + z = 6

2z + y - 2 = 6

2z + y = 8

y + 2z = 8             subtract from equation three

 

z = 3

 

You can determine the values of x and y.
