Cool so in order to find the inverse of a function first write  given equation in terms of x and y

 

y = px - qx + r

 

now interchange x and y

 

x = py - qy + r

 

now we need to make y the subject of th equation 

 

x - r = p y - q y

 

we can factor out a y on the right hand side

 

x - r = y ( p - q )

 

y = ( x - r ) / ( p - q )
