The percentage score on a test varies directly as the number of correct responses. Tommy answered 54 questions correctly and earned a score of 60%. What would Tommy's percentage score be if he had answered 81 questions correctly. Please show the work.

54/x = 60%

54/x=60/100

54/x=3/5

3*x=5*54

3x=270

x=270/3

x=90

there are 90 questions

if he answered 81 correct, his score would be 81/90=9/10=90/100=90%

81%=0.81

0.60/54 = x/81

Let's multiply both sides by 81...

(81)(0.60/54)=(81)(x/81)

0.90=x

x=90%
