Hi Brenda,
The formula for the area of a circle is A = Pi * r2
If the problem gives the radius, such as r = 2 meters, then A = Pi * 22 = 3.14 * 22 = 3.14 * 4 = 12.56 square meters.
There is a formula for the circumference (which is the perimeter) of a circle. That formula is C = 2 * Pi * r.
If the problem gives the radius as 5 meters, then C = 2 * 3.14 * 5 = 31.4 meters.
Units for area are always 'square units' and units for distances, such as a radius or circumference are simply units.
