After the player replacement the sum's decreased by 76 - 71 = 5

And we still have to divide by 5 - so, the quotient has to be decreased by 1.

New mean is 71 - 1 =70 inches.

(4x + 76) / 5 = 71

4x + 76 = 355

4x = 279

x = 69.75

 

(4x + 71) / 5

(279 + 71) / 5

So new average is 70 inches.

x/5 = 71

x= 71(5)

x= 355
