algebra 2 problem

8x-21. 8-x =4
 
Could somebody give me the answer to this please

log (8x - 21.8-x) = log 4
log 8x - log 21.8-x = log 4
 
The log of a difference is NOT the difference of the logs!
log a - log b = log (a/b)
 
 
 
The difference of two logs is the log of the quotient!
log 8x - log 21.8-x        this is the division law
log (8x / 21.8-x)           which is not the step before.
