Let x be the smaller number
Then the larger number is x+1 because the two numbers are consecutive integers
When the smaller of two consecutive numbers is added to two times the larger, the result is 20
(the smaller of two consecutive numbers) + (two times the larger) = 20
x + 2(x + 1) = 20
x + 2x + 2 = 20
3x + 2 = 20
3x = 18
x = 6
Find the integers
The integers are 6 and 7
check
6 + 2(7) = 6 + 14 = 20 check
