3 kids have a total of 55 cents. Asha has 3 times more than Barry and twice as much money as Cali. How much money does Barry have?

Is this a fraction or an algebra problem?  I don't know how to approach this problem.

Let x = amount that Barry has

 

Then, 3x = Asha's amount

 

        (1/2)(3x) = (3/2)x = Cali's amount

 

x + 3x + (3/2)x = 55

 

5.5x = 55

 

x = 10 cents
