Think of a percentage as ratio, a standard ratio which all numbers are compared to 100, how many times are greater or smaller than 100.
In other words percentage is a fraction whose denominator is always 100.
You know that, always numerator and denominator of a fraction can be multiplied by a number and don't change the value of the fractions.
The numbers that are divisible by 100, { 1,2, 4, 5, 10, 20, 50), to find the percentage value of fractions:
1/ 2 , 1/4 . 1/5 , 1/10, 1/20 , 1/25, 1/50 , we will make denominator 100
1/2 = ( 1* 50) /(2 * 50) = 50/100 = 50 * 1/ 100 = 50 %
1/ 3 = 0.33 = 33 % ( here 100 is not divisible by 3), so we carry the division, and we know that in
our numbering system 0.33 reads 33 hundredth , 33 parts out of 100.
so:
0.33 * 100 * 1/100 = 33%
1/4 = 25/ 100 = 25%
Think of converting any number to percentage value is same as converting dollar to cents
c = % = 1/100 = 0.01
Percentage value of number 2 is same as how many cents ( 1/100 of dollars) make 2 dollars.
$ 2 = 200 c, 2 = 200%
In each case I multiplied 2 * 100, and divided by 1/100, and replaced the 1/100 by c, %.
If I asked 2 to 1 is what number to 100.
and I set the proportion relationship.
2/1 = x/100, and solve the X by cross multiplication X = 200
2/ 1 = 200/100 = 200 * 1/100 = 200%
