.3 is "three tenths" and this is written 3/10.
If you had .33, that would be "thirty-three hundredths" so you would write 33/100
If you had .333, that would be "three hundred thirty-three thousandths" or 333/1000
If you had .333, that would be "three hundred thirty-three thousandths" or 333/1000
There is a pattern! The decimal number is written without the decimal and put over a power of ten (a "one" with zeroes), the number of zeroes equal to the decimal places!
If the fraction reduces, it must be reduced.
For example, .15 is 15/100 but 5 divides into the numerator and denominator so the final answer is 3/20
