Let's start by knowing that one inch is equal to 2.54 centimeters. Next, we will handle our units. This conversion is all about units.
1 g / cm3 is the density of water. We want to get that cm3 to in3. One way of handling this is like this:
1g/cm3 = 1g/(cm*cm*cm)
1g/(cm*cm*cm) * (2.54 cm / 1 in) * (2.54 cm / 1 in) * (2.54 cm / in) = 1g/cm3 * (2.54 cm / 1 in)3
I wrote it all out to show you how the units will cancel each other out. Your answer will be left in g/in3.
1 g/cm3 * (2.54)3cm3 / in3 = 16.4 g / in3
