Seven more than 4 times a number is greater than 3. Find the set of all these numbers.

Let the number = x

 

4x + 7 > 3

 

 

We solve this inequality as if were solving an equation.

 

Subtract 7 on both sides of the inequality.

 

4x > -4

 

 

Divide both sides of the inequality by 4.

 

x > -1

 

 

The solution set is all numbers greater than -1.

let the number be x

4 times of x= 4x

7 more than 4 times of x = 4x+7 (which is >3)

 

So, 4x+7 > 3 (solving this inequality we will get the solution set)

 

4x + 7 - 7 > 3-7

 

4x  > -4

  

4x/4 > -4/4

 

  x  > -1   (so x should be greater than -1 .    i.e. 0,1,2,3,....)

therefore set of numbers satisfying the given condition will be { 0,1,2,3,4....}
