Certain values of the sine function are known, e.g., π/3 and π/4. 
The goal is to express 7π/12 as a sum or difference of these known values so that the sum/difference formulas can be used.
Experience (and knowing how to reduce fractions) informs that 4π/12 is equal to π/3 and 3π/12 is equal to π/4.
