A student's average on three tests is 75. If the final is to count as two one-hour tests, what grade must the student make to bring the average up to 80?

If the final counts as two tests, you can set up the equation as if you had two more test with equal percentage x. Then the average of the first three counts 3/5 and the final counts 2/5.

 

The equation you need to solve is the following:

 

75*3/5 + x*2/5=80
