Hope I put this right....  The 2 circles interlock -  A - there is 3  B - there is 5  where they intersect there is a 1  down below there is 7u  -  Question -  please help .. can you show me how to get the answers.

I admit I am guessing a bit:

number of items in A is 3 + 1 = 4

number of items in B is 1 + 5 = 6

number of items in A that are also in B = 1

number of items that are in A or are in B = 3 + 1 + 5 = 9

number of items in the universe = 9 + 7 = 16
