A graduate student in mathematics, but loves to learn everything!
When asks something like "what is x in terms of y?" that means to solve for x. So you should get x = something with y as a variable.
So add 1 to both sides:
y + 1 = 1/x
Multiply both sides by x:
x(y + 1) = 1.
Now divide by y + 1 on both sides:
x = 1/(y + 1)
Let me know if I need to clarify anything!
