A customer could choose 5 types of wood, 3 different widths and 6 diff lengths. How many different types of shelves could be ordered? What are the steps to solve?

Hi, This is solved by the multipliaction Principle. If one event can occur in M ways and another event can occur in N ways then the total number of ways that both can occur is M times N. Here, you have three events, choosing type of wood, type of widths and type of lenghts. There are 5 ways to choose  wood type, 3 ways for width and 6 for length. Thus there are 5x3x6 = 90 different configuarions for the types of shelves to be made .
