The "B" value of this expression is 4.      For the tangent and cotangent,  the period, T,  is T =  π/B  so for this example

the period is    π/4.      

 

  For the other trig functions   the period is  T =  2π/B.

 

  The B value is the number multiplying x in the function argument.
