finding probability of account balance and determining the account balance

The account balances for customers holding a particular type of a bank account with National Bank are normally distributed with mean=205,000.00 and a standard deviation=25,000.00

1. Determine the probability that the account balance for a particular customer with an account of this type is between 200,000.00 and 250,000.00

2. The bank decides to grade such customers by account balances. It has decided that the lowest 33% should be graded as Bronze, the highest 20.9% graded as Gold, the remaining Silver. Determine the account balance above which Gold customers fall

For the first question, all you have to do is add the 2 numbers:
34.13 + 13.59 = 47.72%

for question 2, where are you stuck? (I can finish this today)

Oops--sorry.  I was having computer problems.

I see an error in my original answer---the mean is 205,000 so 1 sigma falls at 230,000, and 2 sigma falls at 255,000.  This makes the problem a bit more complicated.

I will work on it and re-post

OK:
(K=1000)
Question 1:  mean 205K, sigma 25K
prob. of being in the range of 200K to 250K = 0.5433

Question 2:
If the GOLD group is the highest 20.9 %, then we need the account balance which gives a total probability of 79.1 %.
I get $225,250

I'm doing this with the "normdist" function in my spreadsheet program.
