Use the equation Q = (m)(c)(ΔT) where Q is the heat (in calories), "m" is the mass of water in grams, "c" is the specific heat of water which is 1 cal/g/°C, and ΔT is the change in temperature in °C:
Q = (7.8)(1)(39 - 15) = 187.2 calories. Rounding to 2 sig figs gives 190 calories
