What are some words I should remove from my resume?

Having a good resume is not enough to land the interview. Your resume should be specific to each position you are applying for. That said, there are certain words that should be updated to reflect your positive impact on each organization you have worked with in the past (and your current position if applicable).

Some of these words or phrases are:

responsible for

strategic thinker

problem solving skills

obsessive

attention to detail

Excellent response! It is also essential to recognize the need for power words that move the reviewer/hiring manager to take the next step.

Action verbs will help recruiting software target your resume more efficiently. Some to use include:

-Accomplished

-Designed

-Initiated

-Accelerated

-Facilitated etc.

As a former recruiter and leader responsible for hiring, what attracted me most (and I'm sure this has not changed) was type of results the candidates lists.

Additional action verbs could include:

Pioneered

Catalyzed

Forged

Spearheaded

There are hundreds, but you want to really focus on what your talent, skills, and ability has caused to happen within the organization during your time there. Did you save the organization money? Did you increase sales? Did you prevent theft? Did you improve safety measures?
