I think you mean the 6th is tuned to E but it doesn't really matter because octave assignments are in a specific zone. This is what standard tuning would be.
1- E 4
2 - B 3
3 - G 3
4 - D 3
5 - A 2
6 - E 2 or any notes above that until it reaches the 4th string 2nd fret where it would be E 3.
Some tuners show you the zone/range with the # label next to it. Peterson Strobe tuner apps and hardware devices have this feature.

Yes, the first string of list will always be the high E string. If they are suggesting a modified sixth string than it would be tuned to F2. All of the other strings in that tab in standard tuning.01/04/23

I did mean F on the sixth string, I was reading a tab and the tuning read as I listed it. Now, when it reads like that (listing strings 1-6), will the first string it lists always be the high E string? Or does it ever read top to bottom?02/21/22
