That's the indication of the chirality on the benzylic carbon, since 4 substituents on that carbon are different, which imposes chirality on that carbon.

If you wanna assign R or S to that carbon, the absolute configuration of the molecule has to be drawn out in order to assign priority to each substituent on the benzylic carbon.01/23/22
