There were a few factors to this. First, financial prosperity was flourishing. There was a :baby boom" therefor many more children had been born post WW2. Rock N Roll was first coming about, with Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis (just to name a few). Kids loved it, parents hated it. That led to a surge in the business as anything kids can do to rebel is usually successful. Because of all of this, the music business became huge and saw the money making potential and thus, the record industry boomed.
