the product of 8, and a number increased by 6, is 104

the product of 8, and a number increased by 6, is 104. whats is the number?

so then i would subtract 6 from 104 right? 104-6=98
8n=98
98/8=
n=12.25 ???

Hold on a minute, I just noticed that "and a number increased by 6" was one phrase surrounded by commas.  This means its 8 time the number plus 6 or
 
8(x+6)=104  so we multiply it out:
8x+48=104 then subtract 48
8x=56 then divided by 8
x=7. 
 
sorry about the early mix up.  I didn't see the comma's.
