In my opinion, any club or organization must have as a primary objective to serve other people's needs.
It also needs to be in alignment with the passions and talents that the owner posseses in order to make a difference.
For instance, if I am interested in story telling, I would create a human library, where people will be able to join and gather to listen and tell their stories of their lives. This is because, I personally value the fact that every human being has a story to tell to the world, and has the right to express it.
This means that if I want to create that as a philantropic organization, the following skills must be taken into account:
- Passion and a drive to help others
- An interest on self-development
- Willingness to make a difference in the world.
- Be compassionate, caring, and tolerant
- Every member will need to commit with a minimum of time to participate of weekly activities.
- Be proactive
Although, there are several other skills required, for this specific example, the ones mentioned above are the most important ones.
Any organization has to have a clear mission and vision statement, as well as a meaningful purpose to serve the needs of a community.
I hope this answer will be useful.
Thank You.
