The time frame to master hangul is anywhere from two weeks to a few months. For those that can grasp concepts easier it will take no longer than a month. However, if you want to learn basic Korean after hangul, things get trickier and it is best to have an instructor or a good descripted book to explain how to write complete sentences.
For slower pace learners, two classes per week is the way to go in order to give yourself time to process the information.
I teach a bit differently, I use music and dramas as a way to make the classes interesting. One of my favorite tactics to use is transcribing song lyrics. We take a song you like and transcribe it into the Romanized alphabet. This helps your brain recognized the letters after a while.
