If formula error

Why is my If formula not copying down? It’s giving me a false error, I’ve tried adding absolutes as well.

Does your IF function work on the first or any cells and not on others? If that is the case, check your data types for the cells you are referencing in your functions..

After reading your query, I performed a simple experiment with MS Excel.

1) Open a blank MS Excel sheet.

2) In cell A1, store value 1.

3) In cell A2, store value 2.

4) In cell A3, write down the formula =if($A$1=1,"good","bad")

5) Copy the entire cell A3 and paste into cell A4.

6) It works.
