What career path should I take?

I really like to create things, but im not sure how I can use that to find a career. I would really like some suggestions on what to do and how to get said job.

As an admissions officer to a prestigious university I often have people of all ages and walks of life ask me "what should I major in?" I go through an exercise with them that I developed years ago and continue to fine tune as society and our environment changes that helps them understand more about themselves and how to identify a real passion that they should pursue.
