What is the mean and median of the numbers 10 7 9 15 14 12 11 9

When I find the mean and median of the numbers 10 7 9 15 14 12 11 9, I get, MEAN = 10.875 and MEDIAN = 10.5
The answers that they had put were MEAN = 17 and MEDIAN = 11.5 Am I missing a rule or are the written answers just wrong?

Their answers could only be right if there were more numbers in the question.  As it was written, you are correct.

You are correct. The mean can not be 17 when the highest number is 14.
