Decimals and it's process

I think this would be in reference to decimals...?? I'm not sure though. But I had seen an article about a company losing 4.1 million dollars and I thought to myself is that more or less than 4 million? And how much more or less is it? And how do I do the math by myself for future reference and whatnot?
