Is there a calculator formula for what to charge my customer if i know sales tax and Total?X.

Is there a calculator formula for figuring out what to charge the customer($_) if i know SalesTax and Grand Total?

Initial. Sales. Grand

charge($_._ _) + tax (_ _._%) = Total. ($_._ _)

For example working backward if i want the total bill to be $105 and i know salestax is 10.3% then i have to charge X=$_._ _.

What would that equation be besides:

X + 10.3%=105

I guess That was a bad example since i cant charge $95.19499 and I wouldnt wanna cheat my customer or uncle sam by rounding up lol

Anyway any help would save me alot of scratch paper. thnxx

The sales tax rate is essentially a surcharge based on the price you have set for your product. Knowing the sales tax rate, we can simplify the formula you already created. X = 100% of the sales price = 1.0X sales tax = 10.3% of the sales price = 0.103X Grand total = x + 10.3% of x = 100% of x + 10.3% of x = 110.3% of x = 1.103X 1.103X = desired total bill, which in your example was $105.00 1.103X = $105.00 dividing both sides by 1.103, X = $105.00 / 1.103 X = $95.19 Thus, take your desired total bill and divide by 1+ sales tax rate expressed as a decimal.
