If you have a powerful unit with an i7 chip and 16GB of memory and have a mechanical 500GB - 1TB hard drive. It will always be louder that lower performance models. I have an i7 beast and it sometimes turns on the fans high when I am rendering a video. Best thing is to keep it elevated off the table. What happens it that the surface will first absorb the heat. After a while it is now HOLDING in heat. Just use a stand to keep it elevated. I use an old style wireframe letter holder turned upside down. Most of the heating problems are gone. It will still do some whirring. Just a nature of the beast.
