- Rewrite the function as f(x) = 1/(x+1)^2.
- Use the chain rule with u = x+1: df/dx = df/du * du/dx = (-2/u^3) * du/dx
- du/dx = 1, so df/dx = -2/u^3 = -2/(x+1)^3.
