y=1/3 x-4 whats the standard form?

I Need to find the standard form of y=1/3 x-4 ? , Been trying to find the answer but can't seem to find.

Hello Mousa,

 

The form you have it in is y=mx+b (slope-intercept form) and you need it in ax+by+c=0 (standard form).

 

to do this move the variables accordingly, 

 

y=(1/3)x-4  original 

 

y-(1/3)x=-4  move x over

 

y-(1/3)x+4=0 move the constant over 

 

-(1/3)x+y+4=0  rearrange to look like ax+by+c=0 (standard form).
