I got 2940 for the answer, is it correct?

Sorry Crystal, 2940 is not the right answer.  You probably calculated 2 trillion people instead of 2 billion people.  The population of india in 2010 was 1,173 million or 1.17 billion.  The population would reach 2 billion (2,000 million) using the growth model above in 2077.  In 2940 the number is projected to be 1,997,326 million (2 trillion).  I hope that helps.

2000 = 1173e^0.008t

 

2000/1173 = e^0.008t

 

ln(2000/1173) = 0.008t

 

0.5336/0.008 = t

 

66.7 years = t

 

The population of India will reach 2 billion 66.7 years after 2010, in the year 2076.
